Melissa & Rocco: Hurricane Sandy Wedding- Wilmington, NC

Melissa and Rocco

I’ve been sitting here for a while trying to think of how to describe this day. So instead I decided to just make a list of the awesome things this day included.

Mel Mil, RJ, Yellow Toms, Striped socks, Teal Vince Camuto Heels, Hurricane Sandy, Broken Umbrellas, ‘The General’, The Fuzzy Peach, Rainboots, Broken window Trolley, UNCW Swim Team, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zero’s Home, Glow sticks, Vampire Teeth, Hand Painted Cake Topper People Family, Rain, Rain, Rain, Wind, Rain, Sparklers, HAPPY HAPPY Bride and Groom, CRAZY awesome dancing.

Whoa. I think I summed up the day that way, but I guess I should explain more.

Melissa and Rocco were married at the St Therese Catholic Church on Wrightsville, Beach the day the Hurricane Sandy decided to party crash and graze the east coast. Although we battled the rain and wind, and suffered the fatality of a few umbrellas, Melissa and Rocco had one kicking wedding day. They smiled and laughed the day away. They were up for whatever I threw their way when it came to pictures as well. We rode in the trolley to The Fuzzy Peach Frozen Yogurt Bar where the entire wedding party enjoyed a tasty treat, and then headed over the UNCW Education Building to take some amazing indoor shots. When we finally arrived at the Surf Club for the reception, these guys were up for a party! Melissa and Rocco broke the traditional first dance and entrance routine and sang a duet to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros ‘Home’. It was amazing and upbeat and a perfect way to be introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Quaranto.

There was not a single time in the night that the dance floor was empty. I believe I even made it out there at one point in the night!

As I think about the day and how things ‘could’ have gone, I feel overwhelmed and blessed. Rocco and Melissa could have cared less that Hurricane Sandy had crashed their party. I think they are not only an incredible example of how a couple can adapt in a stressful situation but how more brides and grooms should approach their wedding day. It was a celebration. It was a day they will never forget!

Thank you Melissa and Rocco for being so amazing! You guys sure know how to show a girl a good time!
